Damongo NMTC matriculate 400 tranees


The Damongo Nursing and Midwifery Training College has on Thursday March 16, 2023 matriculated a total of 400 tranees admitted for the 2022-2023 academic year. 

Out of the number, 272 were females. 

211 were admitted into the Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical programme and 189 into the Registered General Nursing programme.

The Principal of the school, Hajia Rabi Iddrisu disclosed the school received over 1,500 applications out of which only 400 were admitted. 

She also announced the school will from next academic year begin the registered midwifery programme.

"The registered midwifery programme will soon be added to the list of accredited programmes to be introduced by the college at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year after obtaining approval from the Ministry of health and the Nursing and midwifery council of Ghana who are ar the verge of finalizing accreditation processes with the Ghana tertiary education commission."

Hajia Rabi also disclosed plans were far advanced to start a first degree programme and called on stakeholders to support the school in every way possible to achieve the dream. 

Physical infrastructure such as classrooms, skills laboratories, hostel facilities, and a fence wall were listed among challenges the school is faced with.

The West Gonja Municipal Chief Executive, Karim Musah Kusubari, cautioned the trainees to take their studies seriously as the profession they have chosen is a noble one.

He also announced that the construction of a 3 unit classroom block for the school will begin in May this year.
