Savannah NHIA exceed membership target of 342,830 in 2022.

 


The Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the savannah Region, Chief Mahama Dauda has disclosed that the region exceeded its membership target of 342,830 by achieving 363830 (106) in 2020.


He made this disclosure at the Authority’s 2022 end of year Review Meeting attended by the Northern Belt Director, Mr. Titus Sorey, Director of Claims Processing Center, Mr. Isaac Aicorde, District managers and some senior staff of the Authority at the conference hall of the Catholic Guest house in Damongo on Thursday, March 2, 2023.


According to the regional director, all district offices in the Savannah Region also achieved over 100% of their targets.


Mr. Mahama Dauda also announced that the region was the first nationwide to exceed its membership target within the year under review.


He added that the Authority achieved 44% of the regional population and catalogued other successes chalked by the region including the formation of committees in all Districts to minimize incidents of paying cash at the point of healthcare delivery.


Despites the numerous successes mentioned, he said the Authority was confronted with a lot of challenges especially logistics.


According to him, the Savannah Region has the largest land mass in the country with dispersed settlements which has an effect on their monitoring budget such as fuel and wear and tear of vehicles.


He added the Authority in the Region set realistic annual operational targets in areas such as revenue mobilization, membership derive and to expand access to healthcare delivery and work towards strategic initiatives and innovations that will enable them achieve universal health Coverage.
