Former minister food and agriculture, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru has promised to donate a 33 seater bus to be used in conveying pupils who trek miles to access Education within the Busunu Traditional Area.
Alhaji Limuna who served under the John Dramani Mahama administration made the commitment at Busunu at the launch of an education fund by Tamawuta foundation which he founded.
The challenge of pupils who trek from Lorto and other communities in the area to Busunu to attend shool was brought to the attention of the former Minister at the launch.
The Circuit supervisor of the area, Rev. Father Francis N. Govina indicated that the distance the pupils commute each school day was a major hindrance to education in the area and appealed for them to be supported with bicycles.
Father Govina expressed regret over how some students walk distances of about 8.9km to 18km just to access Education in the Circuit.
The 33 seater bus according to Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna will be a preferred temporal intervention instead, whilst resources are mobilised to put up school infrastructure in the communities.
According to him, it will reduce or curb the problem as the bicycle in his view won't be fully helpful.
He cautioned against politicising the use of the bus and from activities beyond its designated purpose when received.
