Tamawuta Foundation, a Non-Govermental organisation fashioned to create a self-sufficient, cohesive, and stable societies through empowerment, has launched an education fund in the Savannah region.
The launch took place at Busunu in the West Gonja Municipality on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
The fund is to ensure brilliant but needy children in the Savannah region especially girls have the best of education from basic through to the tertiary level.
Tamawuta Foundation is also aimed at ensuring that the less-privileged and the average parent within the region is economically empowered to be capable of catering for the needs of their wards, especially the school going girl.
Founder of the Foundation, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna at the launch held at the Busunu Community Centre, noted that the Foundation was created to improve the lives of people, restore hope in vulnerable and underpriviled communities in the Savannah Region through educational support, provision of business infrastructure, youth development, women empowerment amongst others.
He intimated that he believes humanity is best served in an environment where there is access to functional and capable human resource base.
He disclosed that the Foundation will offer support systems that transform beneficiaries, especially women and youth, into effective individuals.
"The Foundation also intends to provide funding, modelling and mentorship to improve access to quality and sustainable education in collaboration with respective stakeholders," Alhaji Muniru said.
According to him, providing an enabling environment where there are thriving opportunities for all is the best way to serve people instead of the sharing of physical cash.
Alhaji Muniru who was a minister for food and agriculture in the John Dramani Mahama administration donated Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc10,000.00) as seed money for the fund.
He appealed to the good people of Busunu and the entire Savannah Region to support the Foundation and fund to realize their goals.
Through its Tamawuta Female Hygiene Campaign, the Foundation has already distributed 100 sanitary pads to some selected Junior and Senior High School girls.
The Paramount Chief for Busunu Traditional Area, Busunu-Wura Jonokpowo Monasa, through his representative lauded the founder of Tamawuta Foundation for his love and benevolence to the community.
He expressed profound gratitude to God for giving Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna the foresight to initiate"this laudable idea for establishing the Tamawuta Foundation in Busunu."
He also appealed to natives of the community and the region both home and abroad as well as cooperate entities to support the Foundation wholeheartedly.
Established in 2023,Tamawuta Foundation's mission is to restore hope in vulnerable and underpriviled communities in the Savannah Region with a focus on education, health, women, and youth empowerment.
