Video: Delay in Damongo Water Project; DDEP to blame - Dr. Braimah

The Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company limited, Dr. Clifford Braimah has blamed the domestic debt exchange program (DDEP)by the government of Ghana for the stalling of the Damongo Water project.

Sod for the project was cut by President Akufo Addo in 2020, but more three years on, work is yet to commence.

Speaking to the media in Damongo, Dr. Braimah said that though government has signed all necessary documents, including the commercial agreement, the Dutch Bank, which is to finance the project, is holding on because of the DDEP.

He said the bank wants to be sure they will not make further losses if they proceed with the project in Ghana.

That not withstanding, Dr. Braimah said an alternative is being developed to get Water to Damongo.
