Commuters from Damongo to Buipe through the Sor communities and vice versa were left stranded after the Sor no. 1 bridge that connects Damongo the capital of the West Gonja Municipality and other communities along that stretch got submerged by flood waters on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
The bridge became impassable after a dam adjourning it overflowed its banks and submerged the bridge after hours of heavy rain on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
A visit to the scene to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the flood by kashafmonline.com witnessed the bridge soaked in water with the iron rods of the bridge protruding.
Vehicular and human movement has been impacted extremely with perishable farmers being the most hit victims of the situation as they are unable to cart their farm produce to the market.
For most of the victims who expressed their concerns and frustrations to kashafmonline.com, little or nothing will be done if a new round of complaint is lodged.
They however called on the relevant authorities to take proactive and concrete action to bring finality to what they termed as an "annual ritual".
The unfortunate incident kashafmonline.com observed, has disrupted socio-economic activities in the area.
