The Overlord of Gonja, Yagbonwura Biikunuto Soale Jewu I has appealed to the government to expedite action to re-establish access across the Doli bridge
The bridge located in the Bole district of the Savannah region was washed away by heavy rain waters on Sunday, cutting access from the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district and the Upper West Region.
The minister for roads and highways announced plans by the government to connec the road within a week after visiting the area on Tuesdays.
The call by the Yagbonwura for an expedited action in fixing the bridge was made by a team of five paramount chiefs he sent to Doli on Wednesday, led by Sonyowura to inspect the extent of damage.
The Yagbonwura whiles appealing to transport operators in the area to reduce the increased fares, also called in government to rehabilitate the entire Bamboi-Wa highway.
